Description
Great WWII U.S.S. Flying Fish (SS-229) submarine launching model from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Monel, complete with periscope! The base reads: "U.S.S. FLYING FISH N.Y. PORTSMOUTH, N.H." The Flying Fish was responsible for sinking nearly 60,000 tons of Japanese shipping and by the end of the war, the USS Flying Fish was a highly decorated sub - among the awards received was the Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal with 12 battle stars for each patrol during WWII.

SIZE:Approximately 7-1/4" x 1/2" x 2-1/4" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Monel.
