ARTIFACT:
Great Old West 1890's Deputy Marshal six point star "stock" badge. The ball-tipped badge is slightly convex and reads: "DEPUTY MARSHAL" and shows a nice decorative stamp at the center. This example is a great, old stamped nickel badge with good wear on front and great grungy patina on back and bears a hard to find title on a Stock Badges. The original pin appears to have been re-soldered, possibly during period of wear.
These badges came out of an old collection put together by a collector from Kansas, now deceased. As the bulk of his collection was Kansas and Colorado, it can be safely assumed that these badges were indeed worn in the Old West of their particular vintage, although I do not know exactly where any were used or collected. Approximately 2-1/2" in height x 2-1/2" in width.

Nickel plated brass.

CONDITION:
7+ (Very Fine+): The badge shows minor to moderate surface wear, much of the plating remains intact, possible period replacement to the pin, overall very fine condition.
