Great Mid-19th Century Cast Iron Fire Mark from Home Insurance Co. of New Haven, CT

This is a great fire mark from the Home Insurance Company of New Haven, Connecticut. The oval mark is in cast iron and shows a fireman pointing the way to the endangered property. Fire marks were purchased from fire fighting companies by building owners as a way to guarantee help whenever a fire occurred.

Circa mid-1800s.

Approximately 8-1/4” in width and 5-5/8” in height.

Cast iron.

Two holes.

None.
