ARTIFACT:
Great 1930's Chinese General Omnibus Co. Ltd. aluminum 2 ?? cent token. The Chinese General Omnibus Co. Ltd. is the first bus company in Shanghai opening up for public transportation in 1922. The front of the token depicts an omnibus and under it reads: "THE CHINA GENERAL OMNIBUS CO. LTD" in embossed lettering. The reverse of the token features the initials "JDS" for J. D. Shatler once the general manager for the company. After the Japanese Occupation of Shanghai a shortage of small change was experienced, therefore bus tokens were issued in aluminum for general circulation as small change.
