ARTIFACT:
What we have here is a Great 1880's hand stamped and formed, Old West "Stock" Deputy Sheriff Badge in the Rare Inverted Circle Star form. The badge reads: "DEPUTY SHERIFF" in hand stamped lettering. The badge was Hand-hammered in repousse to create the convex form, and the lettering is off-center to the star. The badge has a great Been There look!
These badges came out of an old collection put together by a collector from Kansas, now deceased. As the bulk of his collection was Kansas and Colorado, it can be safely assumed that these badges were indeed worn in the Old West of their particular vintage, although I do not know exactly where any were used or collected.

Hand stamped and formed nickel with black painted lettering., and lead soldered nickel plated brass pin
