Description
This is a gorgeous circa 1942 Croatian Air Force Legion (or HZL: Hrvatska Zrakoplovna Legija) wing badge. The Legion was a volunteer section of the Luftwaffe. The red-and-white checkered Croatian coat of arms is at the center of the wing, and is topped by a "U". "U" stands for Ustaa, a national revolutionary movement responsible for the deaths of thousands of Yugolslavians. The badge is Croatian-made in enameled Tombak and is slightly concave and unmarked, but typical B. Knaus manufacture
