Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a World War II German 2nd class Iron Cross in the early, smaller Schinkel form. The Iron Cross was reinstituted by Hitler, it having originally been a Prussian decoration. The Iron Cross was conferred for bravery in action and other meritorious military acts, and the 2nd class version hangs from a ribbon whereas the 1st class does not.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 7-3/4" in length (including ribbon) and 1-11/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass/tombak frame with steel center, silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT:

Ribbon with suspension ring.

ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:

8 (Excellent-): The medal has only light wear with a few minor pin holes in the ribbon.
