ARTIFACT: Fabulous and probably unique WWI Service Medal present to J. Philip Smith by the town of Hull, Massachusetts on June 25, 1919. The 14k gold medal shows the Nantasket (Nantascot) Lighthouse on Little Brewster Island in the center in beautiful relief detail, a diamond is bezel set and sparkles from the top of the lighthouse and surrounding it reads: "BREWSTER NANTASCOT" in embossed letters. The round medal has an outer ring that reads: "TOWN OF HULL, PLYMOUTH COUNTY" along the top and: "MAY 29, 1644" across the bottom. The reverse of the medal is engraved and reads: "PRESENTED TO J. PHILIP SMITH BY THE TOWN OF HULL FOR WORLD WAR SERVICE JUNE 25, 1919". The medal weighs a total of 9.9 dwt.

VINTAGE: Circa 1919.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/4" in diameter

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 14K gold (9.9 dwt), diamond.

ATTACHMENT: Loop/lug for attachment to suspension ring or chain.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The medal shows minor to moderate surface wear, diamond remains fully intact, light patina, overall excellent condition.
