Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare United States Navy Training Squadron 6 (VT-6) jacket patch from World War II silk-screen painted on leatherette. The last photo (above) shows the VT-6 original artwork submitted in 30 August 1945 and approved 1 October 1945 (from Tailhook Magazine). Despite the late submission of the artwork, along with the design not being representative of the squadron's mission or in keeping with the traditions of the Navy, the patch was worn from 1943 to 194The squadron was established 15 March 1943 at NAS San Diego, redesignated VT-6 on 12 July 1943, and disestablished on 29 October 1945.

Approximately 4-1/4" height and 4-5/16" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Silk-screen painted on leatherette.

CONDITION:

6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The patch has some areas of puckering/warping, a few small surface "cracks" and loose threads along the edge.
