ARTIFACT: Extremely rare WWI American Red Cross Automotive & Mechanics Section medal for ambulance drivers and chauffeurs and worn as a watch fob. The planchet/fob shows an enameled red cross in the center and surrounding the outer edge it reads: "A. R. C. 1918  A. & M. S. WORLD'S WAR" and the reverse shows an Red Cross worker in action, loading a patient on a stretcher into the back of an ambulance in nice relief detail. The outer edge reads: AUTOMOTIVE & MECHANICAL SECTION AMBULANCE DRIVERS & CHAUFFEURS" and the disc is suspended from a leather strap with a steel buckle.

VINTAGE: Circa WWI

SIZE: Approximately: Full Length: 5-3/8"; Planchet/Fob: 1-3/8" in diameter; Leather Strap: 4" in length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Leather, bronze, enamel, steel.

ATTACHMENT: Leather strap with steel buckle.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The medal shows moderate to heavy wear, with surface scratches and a few tiny cracks in enamel, leather is soft, overall handsome patina.
