Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare World War I American Red Cross Automotive and Mechanic Section medal for ambulance drivers and chauffeurs. This medal comes with two extra ribbon bars and the bottom of the original box it came in. The front of the medal has a great enameled red cross and the back shows a scene with a patient on a stretcher being placed in an ambulance. The medal has a maker mark on reverse that is partially unreadable.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War I.

SIZE:

Medal only: approximately 3-1/16" in height and 1-5/8" in width; bars: 3/8" by 1-5/8" each.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze, enamel, silk.

ATTACHMENT:

Suspension ring, ribbon, horizontal pin on medal and bars.

MARKINGS:

?-LENY BROS. Co. CHICAGO on reverse.
