This is an extremely rare Chinese Occupation Period Chinese-made jacket patch for the United States Marine Corps Marine Fighter Squadron (VMF-211), also known as the "Wake Island Avengers". The squadron held out and eventually repulsed the enemy. The patch is wafer-thin and is in inked and tooled leather with a double black border. Its design shows a red lion jumping over the word WAKE and a representation of the Wake Islands in red.
