ARTIFACT: This is an Extremely Rare & EARLY circa 1907 - 1909 Wright Flyer Pin in French Silver from Dunkerque Dunkirk on Oval.

Wright Flyer
History: The original Wright Flyer made its first flight on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This flight is often credited as the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft.
Design: The aircraft was a biplane, featuring two wings stacked one above the other, a propulsion system with twin pusher propellers, and a canard (forward elevator) for pitch control.

Dunkirk
Historical Significance: Although the Wright brothers conducted most of their work in the United States, Dunkirk might be acknowledged in this context for various reasons, possibly including aviation events such as demonstrations or exhibitions.

Design: Pins like this are often created to honor historical events or to celebrate advancements in technology, in this case, the advancements in aviation brought about by the Wright brothers.

This particular pin is a collectible item, reflecting early 20th-century interest and pride in the pioneering achievements of aviation.

VINTAGE: 1907 - 1909.

SIZE: Approximately: 15/16" in height x 1-7/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal T-style pin with 'C' catch.

MARKINGS: French Silver mark on C catch.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a civil aviation collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-RLB-VAJJX02/14-24 LAFGEX09/09/24

CONDITION: 9+ (Excellent): The pin shows minor wear and tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
