ARTIFACT: This is an Extremely Rare & EARLY circa 1907 - 1908 Wright Flyer Pin in French Silver from Dunkerque Dunkirk on Ribbon.

The pin in image appears to depict the Wright Flyer, an early aircraft designed and built by the Wright brothers, who were aviation pioneers. The inscription "Dunkerque" (French for Dunkirk) below the aircraft model might be referring to the city of Dunkirk in France, which has historical significance related to aviation and military history.

Wright Flyer
History: The original Wright Flyer made its first flight on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This flight is often credited as the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft.
Design: The aircraft was a biplane, featuring two wings stacked one above the other, a propulsion system with twin pusher propellers, and a canard (forward elevator) for pitch control.

Dunkirk
Historical Significance: Although the Wright brothers conducted most of their work in the United States, Dunkirk might be acknowledged in this context for various reasons, possibly including aviation events such as demonstrations or exhibitions.

1907-1908
Timeline: The years 1907-1908 were a period of rapid development in aviation following the Wright brothers' initial success in 1903. During this time, the Wright brothers continued to improve their designs and demonstrate their aircraft to the world.

Interpretation of the Pin
Commemoration: The pin likely commemorates an event or exhibition involving the Wright Flyer in Dunkirk during the years 1907-1908. It could be related to an airshow or a significant flight that took place in that city.

Design: Pins like this are often created to honor historical events or to celebrate advancements in technology, in this case, the advancements in aviation brought about by the Wright brothers.

This particular pin is a collectible item, reflecting early 20th-century interest and pride in the pioneering achievements of aviation.

VINTAGE: Circa 1907 - 1908.
