ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare Goodyear airship pilot hat badge in sterling silver made by Whitehead & Hoag. The badge is a pair of spread wings with a diamond-shaped lozenge at center displaying a blue and yellow flag.

It is possible that this wartime-produced hat badge was worn by Goodyear Pilot's in the capacity of training US Navy Airship / Blimp pilots. 

VINTAGE: Circa 1930's -early 1940's.

SIZE: 2" in height x 2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt sterling with blue and yellow enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Two screw posts with disc backings.

MARKINGS: STERLING with Circled WH Whitehead & Hoag maker's mark.
