ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare Goodyear Airship / Zeppelin Pilot Hat Badge in gold plated sterling silver made by Whitehead & Hoag. The badge is a pair of spread wings with a diamond-shaped lozenge at center displaying a blue and yellow flag.

It is possible that this hat badge could also have been worn by Goodyear Lighter Than Air Pilot's in the capacity of training US Navy Airship / Blimp pilots. 

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930's - early 1940's.

SIZE:

Approximately 2" height and 2" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt sterling with blue and yellow enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Two screw posts with disc backings.

MARKINGS:

STERLING with Circled WH Whitehead & Hoag maker's mark.
