Description
This is an extremely rare circa 1915 bullion shoulder patch for the American Red Cross in Serbia. The American Red Cross joined the British to aid Serbia early on in the war. The country was devastated not only by the war, but also by large-scale extermination of civilians, an earthquake, and the worst recorded outbreak of typhus. The patch shows a double-headed eagle in golden bullion at its center.
