Description
ARTIFACT:
This is an early World War II United States Army Air Forces 94th Fighter Squadron DI (Distinctive Insignia) (actually more of a Squadron Badge) as worn by the pilots of the unit presented by World War I ACE fighter Eddie Rickenbacker. The pin has an oval frame and at center is an Uncle Sam-type top hat.: Massaro's USAAF DI Book mentions this badge as existing with a drop in catch.
VINTAGE:
Circa early World War II.
SIZE:
Approximately: 1/2" in height x 1-1/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:
Sterling silver.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.
MARKINGS:
STERLING.
