This is an early Vietnam War era Marksman lighter for the United States Navy USS Shelton destroyer (DD-790), a ship named for an Ensign Shelton who died in the Battle of Midway. The front of the lighter has a brightly enameled ship's crest.
VINTAGE:Circa early Vietnam War.
SIZE:Approximately 2-3/8" height and 1-1/4" width and 3/8" thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chrome-plated with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Hinge.
MARKINGS:MARKSMAN TRADEMARK NUMBER XP-1508 (?) DESIGN JAPAN.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The lighter shows some light abrasions and very small spots of pitting on front and on reverse, along with small rust spots.
