ARTIFACT:
This is a United States Navy dress uniform from the USS Enterprise for an Aviation Machinist 3rd Class. The uniform is very smart and has great colorful embroidery on both the inner cuffs of the top and inside the waist of the pants. There is also a fantastic embroidered dragon beneath the manufacturer's tag of the top. The top has one breast pocket and a V-neck and simply goes over the head. The pants have a three-sided button placket at the waist, three pockets and wide legs. and The uniform belonged to a mate named Newbold, whose name is stamped inside both items.
VINTAGE:
Circa early 1960s.
SIZE:
Top: 25 (shoulder seam to cuff), 18-1/2" (armpit to armpit), 17-1/2" (across back shoulder to shoulder); pants: inseam: 30" waist: 15" (lying flat).
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Top & pants: twill embroidered in cotton/silk thread, embroidery tape, resin buttons, silk.
ATTACHMENT:
Top: buttons at cuffs; pants: button placket.
MARKINGS:
Top: FAMOUS NAVAL TAILORS NORFOLK, VA and NEWBOLD (twice); pants: SEAFARER UNIFORM and NEWBOLD (twice).

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The uniform has one pinhead-sized hole on the thigh and a small split in the crotch seam, and the V of the neck has been repaired with thread: otherwise it is in wonderful condition.
