ARTIFACT:

This is a nuclear submarine jacket patch for the United States Navy's USS Nautilus SSN-57The patch is roughly square and shows a whale-turned-submarine swimming through an atomic symbol and reads USS NAUTILUS.

VINTAGE:

Circa early 1960s.

SIZE:

5-1/2" height and 5-1/8" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Canvas patch embroidered in multi-colored silk/cotton threads with muslin backing.
