Early 1920's Los Angeles County Special Deputy Sheriff Badge #Z21Los Angeles County has the largest sheriff's department in the world with a long history that dates back to 1850. Though established in 1850, it wasn't until 1913 that L.A. County introduced civil service and began to issue Special Deputy Badges awarded to honorary "special deputies". This badge features a textured background, with embossed lettering that reads: "L. A. COUNTY SPECIAL Z211 DEPUTY SHERIFF" and was made by Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Heavy stamped nickel with nickeled brass pinback.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety style pin with come under 'C' catch.
