ARTIFACT: This is a distinctive insignia for the Defense Language Institute in California, part of the United States Department of Defense dating from the start of World War II. The DI is by Meyer and shows a diagonal olive branch separating the Rosetta stone from a Spanish trooper hat.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/16" in height 1-1/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Two posts.

MARKINGS: N.S. MEYER INC. NEW YORK, maker's mark, and 22M.

ITEM NOTES: The DI you receive will either be the one pictured or one in similar condition. This is from a United States Army DI collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAL90 LAJX6/11

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The DI shows only very light wear and one post is slightly bent.
