Description
This is a circa 1950's United States Post Office badge from Jacksonville, Florida. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880s: a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback. Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / JACKSONVILLE".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950's.
SIZE:1-1/2" height and 1-1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with blue painted area.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with come-under swivel catch.
MARKINGS:624 stamped on front; PAT. 2066969 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX.
