This is a circa 1950s United States Post Office badge from Phoenix, Arizona. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / PHOENIX".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:1-1/2" height and 1-1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with blue painted area.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with come-under swivel catch.
MARKINGS:Ç 59 È stamped on front ; Ç PAT. 2066969 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX".
