Description
This is a circa 1950s United States Post Office badge from Norfolk, Virginia. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880s: a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback. Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NORFOLK".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:1-1/2" height and 1-1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with blue enamel paint.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with come-under swivel catch.
MARKINGS:933 stamped on front; PAT. 2066969 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX on reverse.

CONDITION:8+ (Excellent): Badge shows no wear on enameled area and only slight wear on its face. Reverse has a nice burnished appearance.
