Description
This is a circa 1950s United States Post Office badge from Buffalo, New York. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880s: a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback. Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / OMAHA".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in height x 1-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with painted blue enamel .
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.
MARKINGS:443 stamped on front ; PAT 2066969 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX om reverse.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine) Badge shows some wear in enameled areas and there is come discoloration and tarnish on both faces.
