Description
This is a circa 1950s United States Post Office badge from New York, New York. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880s: a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback. Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / NEW YORK".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:1-1/2" height and 1-1/2" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with painted blue enamel .
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in swivel catch.
MARKINGS:28340 stamped on front ; U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX on reverse.
