ARTIFACT:
This is a cigarette lighter by Penguin for the United States Air Force 51st Fighter Group during the Japanese occupation years. Lighter bears an enameled shield insignia with winged horse reading "Deftly and swiftly". Reverse of lighter bears engraving of Okinawa.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1947-1950.
SIZE:
2-1/4" in height by 1-1/2" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Chrome-plated brass with enameled and black painted details.

"HIGH QUALITY LIGHTER "PENGUIN" NO. 19531" maker's mark on bottom.
