This is a circa 1950s Penguin lighter for the Royal Canadian Air Force 1st Fighter Wing at Marville, France. The front of the lighter has a splendid enameled medallion bearing the RCAF motto: PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (Through Adversity to the Stars).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-1/2" width and 1/2" thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chrome-plated brass, brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Hinge.
MARKINGS:HIGH QUALITY LIGHTER PENGUIN NO. 19531 JAPAN.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The lighter shows some areas of moderate wear on both sides and the cover is a bit loose and has a chip on the fron.
