1950s Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) 1st Fighter Wing Marville, France Lighter by Penguin

This is a circa 1950s Penguin lighter for the Royal Canadian Air Force 1st Fighter Wing at Marville, France. The front of the lighter has a splendid enameled medallion bearing the RCAF motto: PER ARDUA AD ASTRA (Through Adversity to the Stars).

Circa 1950s.

Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-1/2" width and 1/2" thickness.

Chrome-plated brass, brass, enamel.

Hinge.
