This is a circa 1940's pilot wing for the British Overseas Airways Corporation, which flew from 1939 until it merged with British European Airways (BEA) to form British Airways in 1974. The wing is in bullion, and shows a winged lion at its center against a blue crest with a golden crown above him. Nice patination and feather detailing.
Approximately 1-3/8" in height x 3-1/2" in length.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Wool felt embroidered in bullion threads, silk, cloth backing.
To be sewn onto uniform.
This is from an airlines collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJM12 LCBEX8/13 SeVCIJX02/14/22
7+ (Very Fine+): The wing shows only some very light wear and tarnish.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
