ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1950s five years of service lapel stud for British Overseas Airways Corporation, which flew from 1939 until it merged with BEA (British European Airways) to form British Airways (BA) in 1974. The stud shows the BOAC "Speedbird" in blue enamel flying over a number 5.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1950s.
SIZE:
Approximately 3/8" x 15/16"
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gold-plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Crescent-shaped lapel stud.
MARKINGS:
J. R. GAUNT LONDON.
