This is a circa 1925 celluloid pin from the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) Post 47 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. GAR was a fraternal organization set up for the Union veterans of the Civil War. The pin is to celebrate Memorial Day, and was made by Sommers Badge Manufacturing Company of Newark, New Jersey.
VINTAGE:Circa 1925.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Celluloid-wrapped tin, paper backing.
ATTACHMENT:Straight pin.
MARKINGS:Sommers Badge Mfg. Co. of Newark, NJ maker info on backing.
