This is a circa 1900 fire department badge from Melrose, Massachusetts. It is shaped like a cross and numbered 41 at center.

Circa 1900.

2-1/8" height and 2-3/16" width.

Nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.

Single screw post with disc backing and one stabilization post.

7 (Very Fine): Badge has a light tarnish and moderate wear: most of the painted lettering is worn away and the top left corner of the uppermost arm of the cross is slightly bent.

As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
