Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful old circa 1910s badge for the Exempt Firemen's Association of Yonkers, a New York city situated on the Hudson River. The badge was made by C.G. Braxmar Company of New York and is numbered 294 on the front. The badge has the standard fire equipment grouping at center, but its design is very intricate, with a sort of honeycomb or filigree background. A large garter encircles the central grouping, and bears the word Association upon it. This came to us along with a circa 1900 Yonkers Volunteer Fire Department Harry Howard Hose Co. No. 12 lapel badge (please see link at bottom of page for information).
