ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful circa early World War I French "Fix" unofficial pilot badge. The badge was worn by pilots before the official 1916 badge was introduced: prior to that, pilots wore an emblem on their sleeve, and this eagle on their breast. The eagle has a lovely lustre and is quite three-dimensional.

VINTAGE: Circa early World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 5/8" in height and 2-5/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with sleeved tubular catch.

MARKINGS: FIX (no oval around name).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a French militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJJX09 LEGEX10/12 SEJJX07/19

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has some light wear to the reverse only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
