Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful circa early World War I French "Fix" unofficial pilot badge. The badge was worn by pilots before the official 1916 badge was introduced: prior to that, pilots wore an emblem on their sleeve, and this eagle on their breast. The eagle has a lovely lustre and is quite three-dimensional. The reverse of this badge is flat, unlike other styles, which have one side of the tailfeathers turned up slightly.

Circa early World War I.

Approximately 5/8" in height and 2-5/8" in width.
