This is a beautiful ca. 1900-1910 US Navy Chief Petty Officer (CPO) hat badge. The "stock" of the badge comes to a point, which is an indicator that it is an early design for this insignia.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900-10
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" x 1-1/8"
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold Filled bronze with sterling letters.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with over-under catch

CONDITION:8+ (Excellent): Little to light wear. The letters have light tarnish.
