Description
This is a circa early Third Reich aviation meet badge from a 1934 event in Hamburg for the DLV (Deutsches Luft Verband), the Civil Aviation branch of the Nazi Party. This badge was made in the pre-WWII years when the DLV was secretly training pilots for the soon-to-emerge Luftwaffe. It is in pierced construction brass with a propeller at its center and reads FLIEGER-TREFFEN (flyer meet) HAMBURG 1934.
VINTAGE:Circa 1934.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 1-15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Pierced construction brass with painted areas.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.
