ARTIFACT:

This is a first style circa 1959 Boston Police Department badge "patent pending" current design. The badge reads Boston POLICE PATROLMAN 1110 and SICUT PATRIBUS SIT DEUS NOBIS BOSTONIA CONDITA AD 1630 CIVITATIS REGIMINE CONTATA AD 1822.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1959.

SIZE:

2-3/4" height and 2-3/8" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Nickel-plated brass with blue enamel and paint.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical drop-in swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

BLACKINTON PAT. PEND.

CONDITION:

5- (Very Good+): Badge has a fair amount of wear and some enamel is worn away. Some lead has been used to fortify the rivet at top and catch was replaced by an earlier-style catch.
