This is a 1960s distinctive insignia for the United States 317th Engineer Battalion by Susco. The DI is a red and silver crest bearing the Cross of Lorraine, an oak tree, and a pick and shovel. The DI reads BY INDUSTRY AND HONOR.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 1-1/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts.
MARKINGS:SUSCO S-21.
