Description
This is a United States Navy submarine patch for the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine USS Nathan Hale SSBN-62She was launched from Groton, Connecticut on January 12, 1963 and commissioned the day following JFK's assassination. The Nathan Hale served as part of the United States Atlantic Fleet and was decommissioned in April 198The patch is embroidered with the motto VIS UNITA FORTIER(sic): In unity strength is stronger.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 4" in diameter (patch is not 100% round but very nearly so).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester/silk threads, mesh backing.
