ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1957 American Legion National Air Mail Roundup award wing. Originally termed the Aerial Roundup starting in 1933, the Legion's Air Mail Roundup was renamed in 1950, and was the method of membership card collection from around the nation. Legion posts and even individual members who met recruitment quotas received award wings for their efforts.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1957.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-3/4" in width and 9/16" in height.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Copper-plated brass, enamel details.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

None.
