ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1950s pocket patch for the United States Navy USS Cutlass (SS-478) submarine. The Cutlass was launched November 5, 1944 at Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard. Cutlass began her first war patrol and entered the Kurile Islands area one day after the Japanese surrender.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

Approximately 4" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads, muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT:

None.
