This is a submarine patch for the USS Darter (SS-576). The Darter was launched at Groton, Connecticut on May 28, 195She was named for the USS Darter SS-227, a ship that was wrecked without loss of life during World War II. She was decommissioned in 198The patch is embroidered with the ship's motto: RENATUS (born again).
VINTAGE:Circa late 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 3-13/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester threads.
