Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1950s officer uniform jacket and pants for the United States Power Squadrons by the Commodore Uniform Company of New York. Formed in 1914, the Power Squadrons aimed to educate civilians on maritime recreation and safety. The breast of the jacket has two great bullion insignia: one is a ship's wheel and the other is a V upon an arrow. There is also a patch on the cuff with a trio of tridents over six bars.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

Jacket: approximately 21-1/2" armpit to armpit, 25-1/2" from shoulder seam to end of cuff, 18-1/2" across back shoulder to shoulder and about 31" from base of collar to hem. Pants: 42L, 36W.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Jacket: wool with silk lining, resin buttons, bullion embroidered insignia, embroidery tape, wool felt patch embroidered in bullion threads. Pants: wool, resin buttons.

ATTACHMENT:

Jacket: buttons. Pants: hook closure, button, zipper fly, buttons on one back pocket, belt loops.

MARKINGS:

Jacket: COMMODORE UNIFORM CO., INC. NEW YORK and care tag.

CONDITION:

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The uniform overall is in very good some small spots of whitish marks, some maybe from a hanger.
