Description
This is a circa 1950's United States Post Office badge from Boston, Massachusetts. The badge depicts a slightly modified version of the symbol that the Post Office used in the 1880's: a postal carrier riding swiftly on horseback. Badge reads "POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BOSTON".
VINTAGE:Circa 1950's.
SIZE:Badge: 1-3/4" in height x 1-9/16" in width. Leather Hanger:& 3-11/16" in length x 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass with blue painted details, and leather.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch on leather pocket hanger.
MARKINGS:12606 stamped on front; "U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY / IF FOUND DROP IN MAILBOX".
