This is a circa 1950s security badge for the Guard Service of the American President Lines (APL). The shipping line assumed its current name in 1938, after having several earlier incarnations. The company continued its earlier trademark practice of naming each new ship after a different United States President. The badge was made by the George F. Lake Company of Berkeley, California and is numbered 48.
Approximately 3" in height and 2-1/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Vertical pin on bar with come-under locking swivel catch.
48; GEORGE F. LAKE CO. BERKELEY, CAL; PAT. number on bar.
This is from an ocean liner and nautical collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDEX13 LAGEX7/13 SAGEX08/20
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has only light wear.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
