ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1943 box carved in North Africa by a soldier in the United States Army 112th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion for his sweetheart. The box has a deeply carved 112th insignia and message to the sweetheart on the removable cover and a lovely geometric motif along the sides. The box comes with two period matchbooks.

VINTAGE: Circa 1943.

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/4" in height and 4-5/16" in width and 7-1/16" in length.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Carved wood.

ATTACHMENT: Removable lid.

MARKINGS: TO MY LOVING SWEETHEART JOYCE WITH LOVE GOGAN.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. KEZAR CON-DB-25-13 LABEX3/13 SABEX9/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The box shows only some light wear and one small corner of the lid has broken off.
