1943 Launch Ribbon for High-Scoring Submarine, USS Bowfin SS-287

This is a 1943 USS Bowfin SS-287 submarine launch ribbon. Bowfin was launched from Portsmouth Navy Yard exactly one year after the Pearl Harbor attacks, December 7, 1942, and had nine successful war patrols. Because of the Bowfin was nicknamed the Pearl Harbor Avenger", and now rests permanently at port in Pearl Harbor as a museum. The ribbon is dated 1943 despite the December 1942 launch date, probably just because the ribbons were printed late.
